My name is Sofia Paramonov, professionally (and personally) known as Sofia The Doctor. As an NYC-based Director of Photography, I specialize in commercials, music videos, fashion, and beauty. My interest in capturing video lies in the portal-like nature of the medium. The ability of a camera to capture its operator’s visual experience - and the way an audience can be transported into the filmmaker’s perspective - has always struck me as a deeply intimate form of observation and emotional perception. Creating an image requires a crew’s collective alchemy. I consider my role as a cinematographer an honor—one rooted in reverence for visual perception and collaboration between artists.
I also work as a camera operator, gaffer, additional grip/swing, and camera assistant. Please reach out if you are interested in working together.
